Rating: 2 stars

Review: I love romantic suspense, and the synopsis of this one had me eager to give this new-to-me author a try. Unfortunately, I struggled to get through it. While the plot held promise, the execution needed some work. I didn't really like Miranda, and while I did like Hunter, I didn't feel any real connection between them. I can't really pinpoint what is was about the writing that was the problem, but it did not engage me, and I found myself skimming a great deal. With that being said, I know that reading preferences are very subjective, so if you too like romantic suspense, then at least try a sample of this one to see if it's your thing. The action begins right away, and both characters appear early on, so it won't take long for you to know if you want to keep going.

Webster's defines resting book face as follows: (a) the look a person gets when someone interrupts them while they're reading a really good book; and (b) the vacant stare of a reader who is mentally lost in their book world when reading isn't possible. Okay, fine. It's not in Webster's. But it should be.
