Synopsis: Trent Montgomery knew all about loyalty and responsibility. Tracking down his friend’s long-lost sister and making sure she was safe was just another job, a favor from someone he cared about. He wasn’t supposed to get attached. But when he started to fall for the woman who had been hiding from the world, things got a lot more complicated than he ever expected.
Lies were told. Secrets were uncovered. Lines were crossed. When the truth finally came out, Trent had to find a way to protect the woman who stole his heart while he tried to earn her trust back.

Review: I very much enjoyed this first book in the new Whitecap series, which is a crossover of the Hope Valley series. The Hope Valley series is a favorite of mine, and I was eager to see how the crossover would play out. It's done very well, and with just this one book, I already love the town of Whitecap and the wonderful characters in it. While it's not critical to read the Hope Valley series before starting this one, doing so will give you some background into the main characters here: Sawyer/Cheyanne and Trent. Cheyanne is the long-lost twin sister of Hope Valley's Charlie, and Trent comes looking for her on Charlie's behalf. Cheyanne is hiding from her abusive husband, a la Sleeping with the Enemy (yes, the old Julia Roberts movie--I know I'm dating myself). The plot is fast-paced and riveting, the chemistry between Trent and Sawyer is instant, and the cast of supporting characters is amazing. The anticipation of Sawyer finding out the truth made me giddy. I sure hope Luna's story is next. I've got a serious girl crush on her already.
Cheyanne Knightly knew all about living in fear. The life she’d made for her and her daughter was as stable as a house of cards. One stiff breeze could send her whole world crumbling. But when a new guy blew into her small town, stirring up Whitecap’s rumor mill, she found herself drawn to him in a way she never expected.
Lies were told. Secrets were uncovered. Lines were crossed. When the truth finally came out, Trent had to find a way to protect the woman who stole his heart while he tried to earn her trust back.
