Synopsis: Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: vodka, weepy music, bubble baths…and a curse on the horrible boyfriend. Sure, Vivi knows she shouldn’t use her magic this way, but with only an “orchard hayride” scented candle on hand, she isn’t worried it will cause him anything more than a bad hair day or two.
That is until Rhys Penhallow, descendent of the town’s ancestors, breaker of hearts, and annoyingly just as gorgeous as he always was, returns to Graves Glen, Georgia. What should be a quick trip to recharge the town’s ley lines and make an appearance at the annual fall festival turns disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.
Suddenly, Graves Glen is under attack from murderous wind-up toys, a pissed off ghost, and a talking cat with some interesting things to say. Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off the charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

Review: This spellbinding read will get you in the mood for fall and Halloween! This is the first book I've read by this author, and I really enjoyed the wit that naturally comes through in her writing. The plot itself is fresh and interesting, and the characters are well developed and extremely likeable. And there's a talking black cat, so clearly, the book has a lot going for it. I will say that I wished the ending hadn't been so rushed. I was left feeling unsatisfied with the very quick resolution between Vivi and Rhys and would like to have seen more time spent on developing that part of the story. I also would have liked to see Simon's reaction to finding out the truth about what happened with Vivi's family, and maybe even some resolution in his relationship with Rhys; however, perhaps the author is planning for this to be the first in a series that will continue with Wells and Bowen, and if so, hopefully we'll see some of that play out in those books. Overall, this is a very enjoyable read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
